New Zealand Vaping Laws: 2024 Timeline
December 21, 2023
- Flavour Restrictions: E-liquid flavours become limited to two descriptive words (e.g., "Menthol Mint").
- Nicotine Limits: Disposable vapes are capped at 20 mg/ml nicotine strength.
- Device Regulations (Originally Planned): All vape devices were supposed to have removable batteries and child safety mechanisms (like button combinations or auto-shutoff) by this date.

March 21, 2024
- Nicotine Limits: E-liquids join disposables with a new nicotine strength limit of 28.5 mg/ml.
October 1, 2024 (Important Update!)
- Device Regulations: The requirement for all vape devices to have removable batteries and child safety mechanisms has been postponed to October 1, 2024. Stock up on your current devices if needed!
